Pranab Mukherjee is elected as President of India

Mr Pranab Mukherjee was elected as the 13th president of India on 22 July 2012.

He received over 6 lac votes in process of defeating his rival candidate Mr. P.A Sangma.

Mr. Pranab Mukherjee is a seasoned parliamentarian, serving the country in various capacities like minsiter of finanace, commerce, external affairs, defence and home.


He will succeed Mrs. Pratibha Patil, the 12th President of India.  

Rajesh Khanna passes away

Veteran Bollywood actor Rajesh Khanna passed away on 18th July 2012

His first film was Akhri Khat released in 1966.
 

Brett Lee retires

The fearsome Australian pace battery Brett Lee announced his retirement form International Cricket.

However he will still be in action for his Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knightriders and also throw some bouncers in the Australian Big Bash.

Very few people have the potential to write or comment on the music of Shri. Bhupen Hazarika, and I'm not one of them. The only thing that can be said is that everyone is equally grieved by his demise. Such is the greatness of this person.
