Although numerous movies have been made on this topic this was a huge hit mainly due to its super hit songs and the fresh pair of Salman Khan and Bhagyashree. While Salman transformed to a super star in the next decade acting it numerous films bhagyashree dint further her film career and settled for a homely life with her husband Himalaya.
Reema Lagoo became the default mother after this film and become mother of many actors and actresses . She continues to play this role even today.
Laxhmikant Berde the marathi supestar was known to the entire nation through this flick. However he could not make a notable mark in hindi movies and ended up doing roles of servant in a few pictures after MPK.
Alok nath gave a power pack performance and well justified his character. Mohnish Behl did what he does the best in an excellent supporting role.

Music was the single biggest contributor in the sucsess of Maine Pyaar Kiya. Although Rajashree movies are popular as clean and family entertainers , sweet melodious movies is also an important characteristics. Ram Laxman has once again composed the finest tunes for Maine Pyaar Kiya which toppes every music countdown of the country in 1989. The Music after two decades is still fresh and refuses to die down.
The Duet songs were brought alive with two veteran voices in the Music industry Lata Mangeshkar and S.P. Balasubramanium. They complimented each other well matching each other note to note. The Solos be it Dil Deewana of S.P. or Kabootar Ja Ja of Lata were equally melodious. The song "Aate Jaate Hanste Gaate " went on to become the best romantic song. The mecheif in "Aaja Shaam Hone Aaye" was also well appreciated by the music lovers. The tile track "Maine Pyaar Kiya" was the most powerful song of the movie and was a true blood boiler. The song which was appreciated the most however was "Mere Rang Mein" which was a well sung solo by S.P Balasubramanium. To folk styles "Kahe Tohse Sajna" imparted completeness to the music of Maine Pyaar Kiya.
