ALADIN, a movie by Sujay Ghosh is much hyped and fails to deliver . The movie could have done much better than just being a visual show. The movie is weak in all departments of film making most importantly the script. This is not a movie that will appeal intelligent audiences.
The movie has a good start and there are some promising scenes in the middle. But the interest keeps drooping overall and even the genie fails to make the moments lively.
The screenplay has done more damage than the story itself. Sujoy ghosh has no one to blame but himself for such absurd screenplay. The fantasies actually appear nightmarish. Some scenes like Riteish flashback are beyond comprehension. The entire sequence of Amitabh loosing his power is entirely wasted. The movie also exaggerates the Amitabh’s fight sequence with Sanjay Dutt’s henchmen. In such case it is better not to speak about the climax.
After watching ALADIN one ponders whether it really needed such good star cast or big budget as both these things seem to be entirely wasted. The movie has good special effects but only in bits and pieces. The music is typically Vishal Shekhar and offers nothing new to ears. The songs are more than required which only helps to disinterest the audience. The cinematography comes as a very big relief.
ALADIN is all about Riteish and thankfully his performance is not at all loud. He seems to be very comfortable in the character. Riteish does what he does the best – being natural. Amitabh overacts. Sanjay Dutt is nothing more than filler. The glamour quotient is lacking and one remembers that Jacqueline is in the movie only when she appears on the screen. However she is a great eye candy.Talented actors like Victor Banerjee , Mita Vashisht and Ratna Pathak Shah would like to forget this film as quickly as they can.
With everything wasted in this movie its better to save our time and money over this disappointing ALADIN.
